About Us
The WIC & Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Programs
Provides benefits to families active with the WIC Program and to income eligible seniors/elders to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and herbs.
Supports local farming by increasing the use of farmers markets, roadside stands, and local Food Hubs. Produce is also purchased directly from farmers for delivery to eligible participants.
Is funded through a combination of federal grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), as well as state and local funding.
Participants in this program will now receive a Shopper Card or Mobile app with a QR code, that will be scanned by the participating farmer.
Benefits are only for the farmers market season and must be utilized by November 15th.
Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)
What is SFMNP?
Is a USDA program designed to provide low-income seniors with access to fresh, nutritious, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey. It aims to support seniors’ health and nutrition while also benefiting local farmers by promoting direct sales through farmers’ markets, roadside stands. Eligible seniors receive benefits in the form of electronic cards to purchase approved foods.
Am I Eligible?
You must be:
- 60 years of age or older (Non-Native American) or
- 55 years of age or older (Native American) and
- Live in New Mexico
Your Income must be at or below the 185% federal poverty level. Federal Poverty levels

WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP)
What is FMNP?
is a USDA program that provides fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs to participants in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The program aims to improve nutrition and support healthy eating habits while boosting local agriculture by promoting direct sales at farmers’ markets, roadside stands. Eligible WIC participants receive benefits in the form of electronic cards or a mobile app to purchase approved foods from authorized farmers.
Am I Eligible?
You must be active on the WIC program as:
- Pregnant
- Breastfeeding
- Postpartum
- Children & Infants (6 months to 5 years of age)

Eligible Foods
Fresh vegetables, fruits, and freshly cut herbs
Foods that are eligible to be purchased with benefits include fresh, unprepared, locally grown vegetables, fruits, and herbs (not dried) that are harvested for immediate consumption and are in their natural, unprocessed state and without any added preservatives or chemicals.
Honey is only eligible for those enrolled in the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.
New Eligible Foods

- Chile Ristras (non-decorative or sprayed)
- Dried Red Chile Pods (no powder or chile pique)
- Local NM Pinto Beans
- White and Blue whole kernel corn (known as posole)
Non-Eligible Foods
Foods that are non-eligible with Federal Food Benefits include processed foods, baked goods, seeds, meat, eggs, cheese, breads, DRIED (fruits, vegetables & herbs) and powdered chile.
Additionally, wholesale produce, oranges, bananas, mangoes, lemons, limes, grapefruits, and tangerines as these fruits are not locally grown.

- Farmers, growers, honey vendors selling at Farmers Markets contact your Market Manager for paperwork.
- Farmers, Growers, Honey vendors, Mobile Markets will need to accept e-benefits, this means you will need a mobile phone or tablet that can download the SoliMarket Register App via Android or Apple IOS. (links are provided once approved in the system)
- Benefits are paid directly to the farmer via bank Automatic deposit (ACH)-No checks or cash are issued.
Signage to display
All authorized farmers and vendors who accept WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) benefits must display appropriate signage indicating that these benefits are accepted.
This requirement ensures that program participants can easily identify vendors where they can use their benefits, improving access to fresh, locally grown produce.
Annual Trainings
All participating vendors/farmers are required to complete annual trainings. Trainings will be conducted in-person by the NM WIC & Senior State office team annually and within 60 days if you are new to the program.

Compliance
- Renew agreement every 3 years.
- To maintain compliance with USDA-FNS guidelines and ensure continued participation in the New Mexico Farmers Market Nutrition Program (S/FMNP), farmers and vendors must adhere to the following rules per 7 CFR 249.10(b)

- Farmers must display “We Accept WIC & Senior Benefits” signage and comply with all S/FMNP rules, including selling only eligible foods, offering fair treatment to participants, and maintaining program integrity. Violations may result in warnings, disqualification, or legal action.

SoliMarket Shopper App and Card
How to Use Your SoliMarket Shopper App
Getting Started

Check your inbox for an email containing your username and PIN.

Click the link provided in the email to download the app from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play.

Log into the SoliMarket Shopper App using the provided credential from the email.

Upon logging in, you’ll be on the home screen, which displays your balance and transaction history.
Making Purchases

To make a purchase, open your app and tap the “Checkout” button at the bottom of the home screen.

The app will display your unique QR code.

Show the QR code and your selected products to the authorized farmer to begin the transaction.

The farmer will scan your QR code, enter the purchase amount, and record the transaction in their app.

Your transaction will be confirmed, and your balance will be updated.
How to Use Your SoliMarket Shopper Card
Getting Started

You will receive your SoliMarket Shopper Card with your secure PIN in the mail. This card package will provide all the information you need to utilize the card for shopping.

Log onto shopper.soliportal.com using the card number and PIN provided on the card package to view your available balance.
Making Purchases

Present your card and your approved products to the authorized farmer to begin the transaction.

The farmer will scan the QR code on your card to determine if there is sufficient balance to transact your purchase.

Once the farmer has entered the transaction, you will be provided with access to their mobile device to view your balance and enter your PIN to authorize the purchase.

Please remember that your PIN was provided in the card package you received.

The farmer will complete the purchase and provide you with your approved products.
